Idea of getting GPU into the lab popped up long time ago, around 2019, and idea was to run small models for some tasks, like an upscaling of images and image recognition.
Pathetic attempts to invent bicycle and fix something, that does not require to be fixed.

Some time ago I performed switch to the magnificent TEX Shinobi mechanical keyboard. But, with need of usage of 2 laptops on the same table with BT switch between them, popped up urge to utilize more space-efficient setup – hanging laptops on the stands and use the KVM to switch between them.
Since our last one-side conversation, plenty of different new obstacles appeared and challenged homemade infrastructure, but some of them are accumulated as general term “network issue”. And yes, this post about network from non-network engineer.
As a continuation of the previous post about hardware racking and cabling, to bring more order in the cables and server composition, including cases, cables and overall view.
My way to success (have no any idea about success rate ) come across idea to create CV site. It’s simple to do it: wordpress, another docker container, nginx and DNS, seems to be simple. But, as here we are discussing about overengineering of any basic tasks, we keen to create pure mixture of homelab essentials, we will need Kubernetes, Gitlab and something in between.
As a part of endless way of homelab improvement, one day or another you should come to hardware update topic. So, this moment has come to me.
As every “bright” idea is coming from need, this one is a good example. In previous opus was performed an attempt to explain how to create network issues without need with PiHole on top, but now it was a different kind of need – I have to control my overgrown homelab without affect on my relatives.
Some time ago far from here and close to there, one of the first container that has been implemented in my docker environment was PiHole to filter traffic, get rid of ads and improve quality of internet life for me and family.
It was a dream, and later it comes as something that I can do, at least in scale of home environment. Quite obviously, solution should be simple, reliable and not consume every byte of my server’s memory.
This story started some time ago with intention to learn a bit about buzz words and their influence to modern word. On other hand all of the applications working for a while on Docker, and from this side come another problem. With growing up container infrastructure at home lab appeared problem with resources and upsetting performance of Hyper-V VM (yes, it still exist).
